Web Design

Every artist, every practice and every business is different. Every website we build therefore, differs from the next. We’ve found that most can be sorted by size. To give you an idea of costing, read about our 3 sizes below.

Micro sites

We define micro sites as a single web page containing minimal content. This page can be highly unique and eye-catching—a slice of interactive art for the web. This kind of site works best for those needing none or very few future updates.

This option may be right for you if you would like to:

  • make an attractive feature cover-page for your existing website
  • design a personal profile with your contact details
  • set up a memorable holding page for something coming soon
  • design a destination for a specific piece of art work, place, event etc.

A project like this will usually cost 1 – 2 days of work.

Small sites

By our definition, a small site includes 1 – 3 unique page templates. This might be for example, a portfolio collection page, a page for single artworks and a contact page.

The price varies depending whether you would like us to upload your content or make updates yourself—we can include a 2 hour private tutorial in this case. The amount of custom design required also affects the price.

This might be the choice for you if you are looking to:

  • archive and display your artwork
  • start a new blog, journal or magazine
  • organise and browse various collections of content
  • create a simple static website for a business or project

Small sites tend to cost 2 – 3 days of work.

Multi-page sites

As defined by the name, multi-page sites contain more than 3 unique page templates. You might for example need a simple text page, a shop collection page, product page and custom checkout pages.

This type of site works best for a small/medium-sized business or artist collective, that require several technical features, advanced layouts or custom design.

We recommend a multi-page site if you would like to:

  • create a fancy web site for a business, collective, charity etc.
  • build an ecommerce store to safely take online payments
  • bring various collections of content together e.g. a blog, shop and video channel
  • collaborate with a group of people to publish content to a shared web site

Multi-page sites tend to cost at least 4 days of work.

Budgets

If you have a very tight budget and would like to make a quick and light-weight site, we can help you. We have provided time estimates for each option however these are indeed just estimates! Each project is different and can only be predicted more accurately after having an initial conversation. Please get in touch if you have any questions or to book a free consultation.

Domains and hosting

If you don’t already have a domain, you will need to purchase one for an ongoing fee. Domains usually cost £10-20/ year. We can recommend a registrar.

In order to keep a web site accessible via the internet, it must be hosted by a server. You can pay to rent server space with a company such as Godaddy or Bluehost for around £100 per year.

We offer hosting services for free for small static websites (under 300MB disk space). If you need more space then you can choose one of our low cost hosting packages or sign a retainer with us for regular maintenance and support.

You can also get free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates to secure your domain when you host with us and custom email addresses.

At the same rate, we can offer additional support with graphic design, newsletter design, SEO, copy writing and editing.
